The Engineering Library

The GOLD FIELDS ENGINEERING LIBRARY is located on the ground floor of the Chamber of Mines Building on the West Campus.



The Wits Libraries are now open from 8h00-17h00 (Monday - Friday):

Reading Room (Engineering Library, Chamber of Mines Building):

The Engineering library in the Chamber of Mines building opened a Reading Room facility on 3 February 2020. The area will remain open when the library closes and is accessible via the atrium area in the building.

Monday - Thursday 17h00 - 23h00
Friday Closed after 17h00
Saturday 8h30-17h00
Sunday 14h00-20h00
Public Holidays Closed


The Reading Room offers:

  • access to all Wits staff and students
  • seating space for 25 people (under current lock down level)
  • network, power points and Wi-Fi
  • one photocopying/printing/scanner
  • provision for wheelchair access
  • and security cameras for a safe and secure environment.
