Wits Open Data Vault repository is regarded as a publishing platform where datasets may be stored and published openly for reuse, encouraging sharing of data which advances citations and research indicators. Citations are made possible, since on the repository, datasets are assigned with digital object identifiers (DOIs).
Researchers will be able to upload their research data onto this trusted repository whenever they want to. Items that can be uploaded on this data repository will be dataset, journal contribution, figure, media, software, standard as well as online resource. Long term preservation of these data will be administered by librarians @ Research Visibility and Open Scholarship unit.
