This booklet was developed from desktop research to provide an overview of the Italian market and to help market South Africa in Italy. In conjunction with this market overview, our country office in Italy has developed activation plans for this particular market.

South Africans are among the proudest people on the planet. We take our spirit, attitude, connectedness and vibe very seriously. South African World Cup ‘experience’ is something which we, as a tourism community, must ensure we impart to each and every person who comes to enjoy the beautiful game on our shores. This includes visitors from across our country, our continent and further afield. At the heart of our ability to deliver a world class 2010 experience is our ability to truly play ‘host’ to the world during their stay. As a tourism industry we must ensure that service is put under the spotlight as an imperative for successful hosting of the 2010 Games from a visitor experience delivery perspective

South Africa has the ambition of becoming a leading tourism destination in the global tourism market. The Tourism Growth Strategy established our goals and objectives for how tourism will become a major contributor to the growth and development of our nation.

This booklet is the result of research South African Tourism did in 2006/7 and is to help market South Africa as a Business Tourism Destination. The project’s aim was to understand the whole of the market and not the section we are currently seeing.
