Workshops: 2020

Research Support Workshops

The Postgraduate Affairs Office runs more than 50 research methodology and writing workshops. The programme is adjusted according to an analysis of students’ evaluations, suggestions and attendance figures to meet student requests.

Workshops take place between March through to October every year. Some workshops are repeated but not all. Programme changes happen - please check workshop dates and times before you set out. Please book for your workshops and please cancel if you cannot make it.

The Engineering Library

The GOLD FIELDS ENGINEERING LIBRARY is located on the ground floor of the Chamber of Mines Building on the West Campus.

24-hour Reading Room, Engineering Library, Chamber of Mines Building

Opening of the new 24-hour Reading Room in the Engineering Library

The Engineering library in the Chamber of Mines building opened a new 24-hour Reading Room facility on 3 February 2020. The area will remain open when the library closes and is accessible via the atrium area in the building.

Note: Under Level 1 lockdown, the 24 hour Reading Room opening hours will be aligned with the Library opening hours and will not be open after hours. The area will be accessible via the Library.

The 24-hour Reading room offers:

  • access to all Wits staff and students
  • seating space for 45 people
  • network, power points and Wi-Fi
  • one photocopying/printing/scanner
  • seating space for individual study or 4-6 seater tables
  • provision for wheelchair access
  • and security cameras for a safe and secure environment.
