This Addendum is to assist authors in retaining some of their rights in terms of the Copyright Law. It is recommended that you attach it to each Publisher's Agreement when submitting your papers for publication.
Authors do not have to sign over all their rights to publishers. They only need to give them a 'non-exclusive licence' to publish. If publishers do not want to accept the Addendum, ask them for their reason, as this is a common practice worldwide now and it enables you to place a copy of your publications in Wits institutional repository, WIReDSpace at http://wiredspace.wits.ac.za.
