Internet searching – BEWARE!! Not all of the sites are produced by experts in their fields. If you use information from the internet check for accuracy. One of the main advantages of using a recognized database is that all the articles it covers are written by people who are recognized as experts in their fields. If you must use Google then use Google Scholar.
Define your topic and compile a list of search terms – subject dictionaries are useful (there are lots on the Commerce library reference shelves) and most of the databases have their own thesauri – the one in Proquest is particularly good. Most also have a section on search tips. Remember different spelling (we use UK spelling but many databases are American)
