Why publish data if we are publishing results

Preprint manuscripts hosted on the AfricArxiv repository allow for free and quick dissemination and global discussion of research output before publishing in a peer-reviewed journal. All published articles will be granted a CC-BY 4.0 license and a DOI (digital object identifier) as well as indexed in Google Scholar. When re-using them, and especially when citing, the preprint status should be clearly marked.AfricArxiv is not a journal and does not evaluate the scientific quality of a paper in all details; i.e. preprints are not formally peer-reviewed. Once a paper passes moderation and is published, it persists on the OSF system indefinitely. We reserve the right to remove papers after publication if fraud or plagiarism is identified.We encourage community interaction through commenting and sharing of preprints.

Local languages We encourage submissions in languages that are commonly used by the scientific community in the respective country, such as English, French, Swahili, Zulu, Afrikaans, Igbo, Akan, or other native African languages. Manuscripts submitted in non-English languages will be held in the moderation queue until we can get them verified. We encourage you to suggest people who could assist in moderating in your language.

Journal Policies

Why do journals need data policies?
An increasing number of journals are implementing policies and procedures that require published articles to be accompanied by the underlying research data. Journal policies on research data and related materials such as software code are an important part of the shift toward reproducible research. They support, and in some cases have driven, statements, mandates, and principles issued by research funders, governments and scientific societies around the world.ANDS has developed a Research data for journal editors Guide.This guide is intended to provide a starting point for editors considering developing or improving data policies for their journals.

Data Journal Data journals are publications whose primary purpose is to expose datasets. They enable the author to focus on the data itself, rather than producing an extensive analysis of the data which occurs in the traditional journal model
